Request for Refund Re-issue - Income Tax

There can be instances such as Incorrect Bank Account details, Incorrect Address, IFSC Code and so on, and then taxpayer may have to request the ITD to re-issue a refund cheque. Refunds are issued through two modes:

• By crediting the refund amount in Assesse Bank account if the taxpayer has correctly mentioned the Bank account details in ITR.
• By sending the Income Tax Refund cheque if taxpayer failed to submit correct Bank Account details in ITR.

Income Tax Refund Reissue - Refund Not Received - Income Tax Filing

Perform the following steps to raise Refund Re-issue Request:

Step 1 Logon to 'e-Filing' Portal www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
Step 2 Go to the 'My Account' menu located at upper-left side of the page ⇒ Click 'Service Request' ⇒ Select the 'Request Type' as 'New Request' and Select the 'Request Category' as 'Refund Reissue'
Step 3 Click 'Submit' hyperlink located under Response column ⇒ After clicking submit, fill the additional details such as Bank Account number, Account Type, IFSC Code and so on ⇒ Click 'Submit'

Note: For successful submission of Refund Reissue request, user must have registered DSC or EVC.

Else, refer the EVC - or refer the DSC -

Note: If the Refund Failure is due to Validation (PFMS), How to Get the Refund from CPC?
• CPC will issue refund failure communication along with response sheet.
• Taxpayer has to fill response sheet and share the sheet with CPC along with relevant documents such as cancelled cheque, address proof document and so on through speed post.

e-Filed Income Tax Return, Income Tax Refund, Check Tax Refund Status Online

1. I have e-Filed my Income Tax Return but not received my refund till now. Answer: If you have not received refund till date, it could be due to the following reasons:
1. Your Income Tax Return has not been processed yet. Once the return is processed you may receive a Refund (if determined). To check the status of your e-Filed IT Return, LOGIN and GO TO 'My Account' ⇒ 'View e-Filed Returns/Forms'⇒'e-Filed Returns/Forms'.
2. Your Income Tax Return has been processed but no refund is determined.
3. Your Income Tax Return has been processed, a refund has been determined, but the Cheque/ ECS credit could not reach you. This could be because of wrong address, not being available at home (door locked), wrong Bank Account number for ECS credit. To check if your Refund has returned back to us, LOGIN and GO TO 'My Account' ⇒ 'View e-Filed Returns/Forms ' ⇒ 'e-Filed Returns/Forms' and check the status by clicking the link provided for Acknowledgement number.
2. I checked the status of my IT Return and it is displayed as 'Refund Returned'. How can I apply for it again?
